The drawer
The drawer is an instrument of Peruvian origin. Usually measured 47 cm high, a base of 35 cm by 20 cm and is made of wood. The origin was because spanish people invaded the Peruvians and not let them use drums, so Peruvians created this instrument. This percussion instrument is played with hands, giving blows to the front part. Usually accompanied by a guitar, dancers with heels and palms.
It is a curious instrument but with much rhythm.

Original: http://goo.gl/I2EWkA Modified: http://goo.gl/gSPJU0 |
The fan in flamenco is an instrument, it's easy to use. Only move your arm harmonically. Usually people say "It isn't an instrument" but the sound that it makes is beautiful.
There is a video!
In my opinion this art is beautiful!

The most typical Spanish art
1. Origins of Flamenco
The flamenco is typical of Spain and it is originally from Andalusia. There were muslims, jewish and cristians traditions but in the 15th century the Gypsies arrived to Spain so the result of this combination was the Flamenco.
2. The term 'Flamenco'
The word flamenco, was created in the 19th century. There isn't any certain way to know where it is from but there are some hypothesis:
- because of the bird.
- fellah-mangu: songs of peasants
- because its origin is in Flanders
- because the gypsies are also known as 'flamencos'
3. The protagonists of flamenco
In this photo we can see the singer (cantaor, cantaora), the guitar (tocaor, tocaora), the dancers (bailaor, bailaora) and the percusion (palmeros, cajón).
4. The map of the cantes
Lots of cantes and dances are associated to diferents provinces: in Malaga, Verdiales. In Seville, Sevillanas. In Cadiz, los Tanguillos de Cadiz. In Huelva, los fandangos de Huelva.
This song is Paco de Lucia- entre dos aguas.
In this page you can find a lot of things of flamenco.

Let's Talk About Flamenco
Let's close the second quarter writing our second post: before March 1st, you have to publish an article about flamenco, one of the most important cultural and artistic expression originated in our region, and certainly the most important from a musical point of view.
Some examples of ideas that you may include in your post: history and basic characteristics of flamenco, its genres (palos), singers (cantaores/as), guitarists (tocaores/as), dancers (bailaores/as), reviews or comments on concerts, discs, videos, films, books about flamenco, its fusions with other genres, flamenco in the other arts (paintings, sculpture, poetry, etc.). Anyway, the topic is wide enough to allow each entry to be quite different from the others.
Please don't forget this: the goal we have to achieve is to create interesting, pleasant and enjoyable to read articles, and overall that these articles must be original: don't copy (of course) and don't "rewrite" something that already exists on the Internet. So, as we insist in the first quarter, no "résumé". Wikipedia and other websites from which you can extract insights are valuable sources for you because they help you to complete your knowledge about the topic. After reading this information, it will be in your head together with your previous knowledge and together with what we have talked about in class: the next step is to write a completely original article..
Work without hurry, to develop good articles, but without rest, because time passes quickly and it's not a good idea to wait until the last minute.
